CARTER (David Morse) is an embittered and isolated rancher on the Texas border, haunted by the tragic death of his wife years earlier. When a group of migrants crosses his property, he shoots into the dark, only to discover the next day that he has gravely wounded a pregnant young migrant woman, IRENA (Jaklyn Bejarano).
Confronted with his actions and threatened by a criminal investigation, Carter reluctantly allows Irena to

After withdrawing from college due a mental health episode, a young woman returns to campus while managing the high expectations of her parents, her sense of isolation, and her uncertainty about her own mental health. After a well-intentioned but awkward attempt by her college to create a "support group" for students like her, she ends up forming a bond with the other students in similar circumstances, creating an unofficial support group. In the process, the students learn how challenging it can be to predict who is actually at risk of a mental health crisis -- and how to reach out for help.
